IMDEA Materials (Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies of Materials), a new institutional framework promoted by the Madrid regional government, brings together both public and private support to perform research in Materials Science and Engineering at the international level. IMDEA Materials belongs to the Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies network, which was created to foster social and economic growth in the region of Madrid by promoting research of excellence and technology transfer in a number of strategic areas.

The main goals of IMDEA Materials are: to carry out top-level research in Materials Science and Engineering, to transfer technology to the industrial sector in order to improve competitiveness and to attract talented researchers from all over the world to work in an international and interdisciplinary environment.
